2016 The Best Nine on Instagram – Leah Quinn Design

As the year winds down (or up depending upon one’s perspective) it’s been a tough and difficult year for so many. My heart and love goes out to so many in our one world. It can be all too easy just to scroll quickly pass, or just be too bothered to be observant to what is going on, all around each and everyone of us.

You can look at it as half-empty, half-filled or, as I do, as opportunities. For change is the only constant. There is still something of substance. I believe and hope you will too, that 2017 will bring good things to light. Let’s hope. 🙂

This next year, I aim to pay it forward in more ways that I have in 2016, even if it is to be bring a simple smile to a stranger’s face. And with creating art, it allows for a meditative state to come about, at least for me – it’s the one time I’m giving back to myself so that I can give more to others. It’s a time for to me unwind, to express, to intend and to explore and try new things. It’s a must for me, as with me helping people whenever I can.

This brings me to sharing with you all, that I am rolling this blog over to my shop at Heart & Soul Apothecary in the beginning of this next year while upgrading my portfolio website & other social media platforms. The other reason, is that I will be able to better share information of my latest artwork, creative in-house workshops and all sorts of other goodies.

So last but not least, here’s to some of my more ‘faved by you designs’ I created from my IG posts for 2016. Following that, are a few photos of items from various print on demand services I had produced with my designs on them and it’s so wild to see one’s work come to life on the surface of a product!

I have got to give huge thanks and warm hugs over to the creative teams at MakeArtThatSells.com & MakeItInDesign.com for the continued inspiration I receive to further my creative career!
I’ll see you in 2017!

And to my fellow designers, Artists & ‘Classmates’ & MATSies, “We did it!” It’s been such an amazing & inspiring journey to see everyone’s art and creativity soar this year, I am so looking forward to seeing and being witness to what our creativity unveils for us all in this next year!

Autumn Means Production Is In Full Gear

I may have been quite quiet a bit with regards to updating my website this autumn, but I have a good excuse. It’s because I have been changing gears with my Heart and Soul Apothecary Shop with updating it with a brand new website as well as taking various courses over at MakeItInDesign.com hosted by Rachael Taylor along with the latest and newest live and online course at MakeArtThatSells.com with Art Directors/Agents Lilla Rogers and Zoe Tucker.

While I am catching up on the courses, I am about to migrate this personal website to a new and improved website. As usual my instagram feed continues to showcase the latest in my everyday design patterns and artworks in progress.

And as with autumn, production for the shop becomes a priority in gearing up for the busy holiday season. Tomorrow for example, I will be knee deep, so it seems, with making my aromatherapy candles with organic essential oils. Then lip balms and other skin care products, etc.

I have also been looking into creating clothing and textiles from eco-friendly resources- so if you know anyone, shoot them my way!

Happy creating!

XO Leah

Journal Love

notebook with art notes.
My notebook and art notes while working on the Tarot Card for MATS Bootcamp this past May.

Who doesn’t enjoy drawing, sketching and writing in a journal? I live through my journals, it’s one of the few things I ‘treat’ myself to. A fresh new page for me, represents a fresh new start to the day, or a moment to remember, or even what inspirations I may have with my art work.

Journals currently in my bookcase…

Keeping several going at once, I often depend upon the design cover to know which one to grab off my desk. It’s how I stay organized.

And I so love looking at journal covers, it’s the art frankly, the combinations of colors that will always just ‘get me’ in choosing one over another. And speaking of covers…

With our last MATS bootcamp 2016 assignment, we were asked to design journal covers relating to flowers. And well, one thing led to another, and I designed a few more than the one I submitted for the online gallery. If you like some of them, You may find a few of them up in my redbubble.com page.

Interesting to note, it was by doing this last journal assignment that led me to design a series of coloring patterns books. And for that, I am super stoked and most grateful I was so inspired. And will assuredly look forward getting my coloring books out to print. I will also be adding many of my designs to spoonflower.com, society6.com, etc. in addition and as soon as I sneak in some time to do that.
